Distinguished Alumni recipients exemplify Pacific values

Five alumni were recognized for their lasting impact to University of the Pacific, extraordinary professional achievements and service to the community with a Distinguished Alumni Award at the 65th annual awards ceremony March 1.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Ron Berberian ’65, Medallion of Excellence 
  • Regent Jie Du ’90, ’93, Distinguished Professional Service Award
  • Robert Hanyak ’79, Distinguished University Service Award
  • Halima Lucas ’13, Distinguished Young Alumni Award
  • Calvester Stanley ’79, Distinguished Public Service Award

“These awardees have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also shown unwavering dedication to their communities,” said Joshua Foster ’08, president of the Pacific Alumni Association. “Their achievements inspire us all and remind us of the profound impact our alumni can have on the world.”

Each distinguished alumni award recipient also selected “the Pacifican Who Changed My Life”—a professor, advisor, coach or friend who had a significant impact on them.

  • Cal Stanley honored the late Gordon Imlay, accepted by his daughter, Jane Skeen ’84, ‘02
  • Bob Hanyak honored his faculty from the communicative disorders department, accepted by Emeriti Simalee Smith-Stubblefield
  • Halima Lucas honored Professor Marcia Hernandez
